Nintendo has officially announced amiibo compatibility for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, supported through the existing Yoshi toys-to-life line.
While no new amiibo figures are currently planned for this title, speculation is rising regarding a possible reprint of the amigurumi series, including Poochy and Mega Yarn Yoshi.
The announcement video itself leaves the question open, displaying the disclaimer: “amiibo sold separately. Visit amiibo.com for details on amiibo functionality.”
Recent Switch 2 releases have featured functionality with classic figures that never received reprints—such as 8-Bit Mario, Qbby from BoxBoy, the Splatoon alternate colors, and the first Monster Hunter wave.
However, this precedent does not guarantee a similar move here. From our perspective, if a reprint were to happen, it would most likely be limited to the green, blue, and pink Yarn Yoshi versions, likely excluding Mega Yarn and Poochy.
Of course, this remains speculation. Yet, considering the current hype surrounding all things amiibo, the possibility cannot be ruled out.
