The Star Fox Direct from two days ago left us both astonished and delighted, as it confirmed that the new entry in the franchise will feature amiibo support. This revelation has sparked excitement among fans and collectors, raising one big question: will there be a new Star Fox amiibo line?
Although the Direct itself made no mention of amiibo compatibility, Nintendo’s website soon revealed that the feature would indeed be included. Images also showed the amiibo of Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O’Donnell, leaving fans wondering whether Nintendo will surprise us with brand-new toys-to-life figures for this classic series, or if the Smash Bros. line will simply provide the functionality.
Leaks surrounding this project may have prompted Big N to keep things under wraps, showing caution before announcing a possible amiibo wave. Still, we’ve seen other Switch 2 titles with amiibo support that didn’t bring new figures — such as Mario Tennis Fever, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, or Kirby’s Dream Land — where the functionality relied on the existing catalog.

On the flip side, Kirby Air Riders stunned us when its first Direct in September unveiled a dedicated amiibo line. Nintendo had already announced amiibo support back in August, but the reveal of brand-new figures came later, proving that surprises are always possible. For now, everything remains up in the air, and fans continue to hope that Nintendo will once again expand the amiibo universe.
What is certain is that Star Fox will launch on June 25, and players will be able to use the existing amiibo of the heroes from the Lylat System.
