Amiibo fever is making a strong comeback in the era of the Nintendo Switch 2, with high demand also emerging for some discontinued figures, like the 8-Bit Mario.

When comparing data from the past three months for the Classic and Modern Colors versions of these figures with the same period last year, we’ve observed a 60% increase in sales on the secondary market.
Fortunately, current demand isn’t driving up the prices of these amiibo, so if you don’t yet own these classics, you can still add them to your collection at a reasonable cost.
However, we’re also considering that the renewed interest in these figures might be linked to the upcoming 40th anniversary of Mario, which will take place on September 13.
At the same time, as previously mentioned on this blog and as part of the celebration, Nintendo launched the new “My Mario” line in Japan, including two construction sets with amiibo functionality.

The combination of these factors suggests that both new amiibo fans and completionists may be eager to expand their collections with the classic 8-bit Mario line, as well as the wooden amiibo.
The craze for collectible items featuring this cultural icon remains strong, and the amiibo released for the 30th anniversary continue to be must-haves for collectors.
It’s clear that the impact of 8-bit legacy remains a benchmark across multiple generations.
