40th Anniversary of Zelda: What I Expect for Amiibo

We’re less than a week away from one of the most important milestones of 2026: the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.

Taking a cue from Mario’s 40th birthday celebrations—from the new “My Mario” line to the imminent toys-to-life figures for Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Mario Galaxy—I’m eagerly waiting to see what Nintendo has in store.

Before the official reveals begin, here are my personal wishes for what I’d love to see in the coming weeks.

Mineru’s Construct

There’s no doubt that the long-awaited Mineru’s Construct amiibo should arrive for the celebrations. However, the delay in its release has raised questions, particularly regarding the figure’s design.

First, we might be looking at a larger-scale figure, similar to the jumbo Detective Pikachu amiibo. Capturing the intricate details of this construct is no easy task, and they deserve to be perfectly represented.

And if we’re dreaming—why not the first “build-a-figure” in the amiibo line? While that would be a bold move, it could also be a nightmare for collectors if they had to hunt down multiple figures to assemble this powerful Hyrulian warrior. It would certainly spark chaos among fans eager to complete the set!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I believe Ocarina of Time will play a major role in this celebration. It remains one of the greatest games in history for both critics and fans alike. It wouldn’t be surprising if a remaster is released for both the Nintendo Switch and the “Switch 2.”

Such a release would almost certainly be accompanied by new amiibo. It would be incredible to see Princess Zelda and Ganondorf figures based specifically on their original N64-era designs—an essential chapter in Nintendo’s history.

 A “My Zelda” Line?

Another strong possibility is a brand-new line—let’s call it “My Zelda”—bringing a fresh wave of wooden block-style figures featuring Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. This would be a fantastic addition, though considering we still don’t know the Western pricing for the “My Mario” items, our wallets might be in for a shock!

Zelda & Tri

Finally, looking at one of the franchise’s most recent titles, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, we might see a refined release for the Switch 2. If that happens, we should expect a Princess Zelda figure accompanied by Tri. This pairing has been highly requested by fans across social media.

Whatever Nintendo has planned, the 40th anniversary of Zelda is bound to be historic. To be clear, these are just my personal wishes—not leaks or official speculation.
